Can I Transfer My Magnetic Strip Data?
The chip is easy. The strip is hard. A technical look at how to move magnetic data to your new metal card.
Transferring the EMV chip is physical—you just move it. Transferring the magnetic strip is digital.
You Cannot "Peel" It
You cannot peel the magnetic strip off your plastic card and stick it on the metal one. It will destroy the data.
The Solution: Cloning
Our Metal Cards come with a blank, high-quality HiCo magnetic strip on the back. To make it work, you need a Magstripe Reader/Writer (available cheaply on Amazon).
1. Swipe your plastic card to "Read" the data.
2. Swipe your metal card to "Write" the data.
Note: This is perfectly legal for your own cards, but always check your local laws.
