What Happens When My Card Expires?
Do you need a new metal kit every few years? How to swap chips when your bank sends a new card.

Bank cards usually expire every 3 to 5 years. So, what happens to your fancy metal card when that date comes?
The Bad News: The Chip Expires
The EMV chip itself has an expiration date coded into it. When the bank sends you a new plastic card, it has a new chip with a new date.
Can I reuse the Metal Card?
Technically, removing a Super Glued chip from a metal card is very difficult without damaging the card or the slot. The glue bond is permanent.
The Solution
Most of our customers treat this like buying a new phone case. When your card expires in 4 years, you buy a fresh Metal Card Kit. Given that the cost is roughly $50–$80, that breaks down to about $1.50 a month over the life of the card—a small price to pay for daily luxury.
