Don't Trash It: Recycling Your Old Plastic Card
You have upgraded to metal. Now, what do you do with the old plastic skeleton? How to dispose of it securely.

Once you have transferred your chip to your new metal card, you are left with a sad-looking piece of plastic with a hole in it.
Security First
Even though the chip is gone, the magnetic strip might still have data on it. Do not just throw it in the bin intact.
- Cut the Magstripe: Use scissors to cut horizontally along the length of the magnetic strip.
- Cut the Numbers: If your card numbers were printed on the plastic, cut them into unreadable fragments.
The Environmental Impact
PVC (Plastic) is notoriously hard to recycle. However, by switching to a metal card that lasts 5+ years, you are reducing the need for the bank to send you replacement plastic cards every time one cracks or peels. You are breaking the cycle of disposable finance.
